If you’ve seen posts about getting SHEIN clothes for free, there’s a real program behind some of them: the SHEIN Free Trial Center. You apply for items you like, SHEIN picks participants, and if you’re selected you get the item for free. In return, you post an honest review with photos.
It’s not a giveaway, and nobody is “already approved.” Here’s exactly how it works.
SHEIN Free Trial
Apply for up to 3 items a week. If you’re picked, the item is yours in exchange for an honest review.
See how to applyYou'll stay on this pageWhat is the SHEIN Free Trial?
SHEIN describes it as a way for customers to “try out new clothes for free and post honest and accurate reviews.” Selected participants receive the item they chose, keep it, and write a detailed review of the quality, style, fit, fabric and construction.
- Free to apply. You don’t pay for the item or for shipping.
- Not guaranteed. Participants are picked at random from everyone who applied for that item.
- You review it. If you’re picked, you post a review with photos, ideally within 10 days of receiving it.
- You keep it. The item is yours as a thank-you.
Who can apply?
According to SHEIN’s rules:
- You need an active SHEIN account that isn’t blacklisted.
- You must be 18 or older.
- Your delivery address must be in the same country as the SHEIN site you’re using.
- You can apply up to 3 times per week. Unused tries don’t carry over to the next week.
How to apply, step by step
The Free Trial Center lives inside the official app.
You'll go to the official app storeThat’s it. Repeat for up to 3 items a week.
What happens after you apply?
- Processing takes about a week. SHEIN says you can check your status in the Free Trial Center on the second Tuesday after you apply.
- If you’re picked, the status changes to “Approved”, the item ships automatically, and you also get an email and an app notification.
- If you’re not picked, the status shows “Failed”. That’s normal, and you can apply again next week.
- The list of selected participants is posted on the main Free Trial Center page.
How are participants chosen?
SHEIN says participants are chosen at random by an automated system. Two things affect your odds:
- How many people applied for the same item. A hyped item with thousands of applicants is harder to get than a quieter one.
- Your account’s integrity history. SHEIN mentions it may consider your account’s and your Free Trial participation’s track record. Skipping reviews or breaking the rules works against you.
We go deeper on this in our guide to improving your odds.
If you’re picked: the review
This is the part people skip, and it’s the part that matters most for your next application.
- Deadline: submit your review within 10 days of receiving the item.
- Photos: SHEIN asks for a full-body shot and two detail photos of the item. Recommended: four photos (full body, details, and how you styled it).
- Your own photos only. No website photos, no photos of other people, no photos of anyone under 18.
- Be honest. A good review covers pros and cons: fabric, fit, sizing, anything you wish you’d known.
- Where to upload: Free Trial Center → My Applications → Upload Review (or Post Report in the order list).
- One redo. If your first review doesn’t meet the requirements, you may get one chance to fix it.
Bonus: a review that meets the requirements earns 20 SHEIN Points. If it’s rated a “Quality Review,” you get 100 more points.
Does it cost anything?
The item and shipping are free. The one exception SHEIN mentions is customs duty: if your item is held by customs or charged a duty, you’re responsible for it. If you don’t pay it, the item may be forfeited and won’t be replaced.
What the real program never does: ask you to pay a “shipping fee” to unlock a prize, ask for your card number in a chat, or tell you that you’ve “already won.”
Rules that can get you banned
- One account only. Using extra or fake accounts gets your trials canceled and can get you banned.
- No copied reviews or borrowed photos. Plagiarized text, stolen or fake photos can get your review removed and your account banned from the program.
- No changes after submitting. You can’t cancel an application or swap the item after you’re picked.
How to spot fake “free SHEIN gift” offers
The real program lives inside your SHEIN account.
- says “you won” or “your free box is ready” before you applied for anything;
- asks you to “just pay shipping” or enter card details to claim a free item;
- uses a countdown (“only 3 left,” “closes in 60 seconds”) to rush you;
- sends you to a site that isn’t shein.com to “confirm your order.”
If in doubt, open the SHEIN app yourself and check My Free Trial. If it’s not there, it’s not real.
FAQ
Do I have to return the item?
No. If you’re selected, you keep it.
How many items can I get?
You can apply for up to 3 items per week. How many you receive depends on random selection.
Can I get the same item twice using two accounts?
No. It’s against the rules, and SHEIN says it may ban those accounts.
I applied many times and never got picked. Is something wrong?
Probably not. Spots are limited and selection is random. Keep applying, choose items with fewer applicants, and always review the items you do receive.
It’s been more than 30 days and my item hasn’t arrived.
SHEIN asks you to contact its customer service.
